How to Update Product Pages

In this step, we are going to update the product pages for all the items you have added. We are going to update the following:

  • Product titles
  • Product descriptions
  • Prices
  • And more!

Keep in mind that it doesn’t matter how you’ve added your items. Maybe you’ve chosen Aliexpress items that you’ve added with Oberlo or maybe you’ve chosen a print on demand item that you’ve added through Shopify app Printify. We re going to edit them all the same.

We are going to update two types of products. First, we are going to edit a product with no variations like this Camera Travel Lens Mug.

This is an Aliexpress product and it came with one single variation. Just one black camera travel mug.

I’m also going to show how to update products with multiple variations by updating the product page of this product I’ve added – the Self Stir Mug. This product have multiple variations because it comes in different colors.

Updating the product price for a product with one variation is very different with updating the price for a product with multiple variation.

There are a few things to keep in mind while updating the product pages:

  1.  Use emotions when writing product descriptions and titles. We don’t sell product features, we’re selling emotions. Try to use words to incite emotions from your customers.
  2.  If dropshipping you can find reviews on Aliexpress and Amazon. I include reviews that I either found in Amazon or Aliexpress.
  3. For paid ad traffic, you only need a short copy
  4. Include a disclaimer about shipping times. If you’re dropshipping from Aliexpress, then you should be choosing ePacket as your shipping option. It’s going to take 2 to 4 weeks for your item to arrive so include this in your product pages. I highly recommend that you bold this so that your customers sees it.
  5. If you have a sizing table, keep it. If you’ve added a print on demand product to your store and it comes with a sizing table, I highly recommend that you keep it.

Now, I’m going to show how easy it is to edit the product pages.

Go to your Shopify dashboard and click products.

On the products page, click on the product that you want to edit. Let’s start bu editing this Camera Lens Travel Mug.

First thing we’re going to edit is the title. Delete the original title and paste the title that you’ve written.

Now, we’re going to edit the product description. Delete all the bullet point features from the original product description. Then paste the description that you;ve written.

As you can see, it’s a short description – only 5 lines. Write the product description like this: Use a short hook in the first couple of lines. I include scarcity in this copy by saying it has limited quantity and it isn’t available in store; which is true. It is only sold online. And note that I am bolding my shipping disclaimer.

Scrolling down, you will notice that I that the images that have been selected through Oberlo have been added to this product.

Then go to pricing, and set the price to whatever you want it to be.

Once you’ve done that, click on Save. Then, you’ll get an notification that product update was successful.

Now, I’m going to show you how to edit a product with variations. To edit a new product, click on All Products. Click on the product you want to edit next.

Let’s edit the title first. Next, add a custom description. This one is a bit longer than the first one, being six lines but still very short. I used the Amazon listing to help me write this description. I’ve included scarcity and again…I’ve included a shipping disclaimer.

If you scroll down, you will see the images we’ve selected using Oberlo have been added already.

Now, we’re going to edit prices. Before you do, come and click the Save the button. Once. it’s finished saving, click the Edit button next to the first variation.

Scroll down to Pricing, then change the price to whatever price you want it to be. And set the compare at price to be double the price.

Once you’ve done that, click Save.

Select the next variation you want to edit and repeat the process.

And that’s how you edit products with variations.

Now, I’m going to open up this product page  and give you a quick preview. As you can see, the different variations we have added can be selected from the drop down.

Add more products to your store and go ahead and edit each product pages. Once you’ve done that, you’re ready to move on to the next step.
